Happy 40th! 💗💐🎉 choices will continue to change as you grow. It’s still ok to choose differently another time. I’m learning that the choice I make today is based on today, and is not because of yesterday. God is with me in this decision and was in that one and will be in the next one.
Even if I make a different choice given what looks like the same situation, it can be valid. And the other could be equally valid. (and either or both could be unwise or unhelpful as well😬😅)
Yep! Everything doesn’t affect everyone the same way, but God is good to show us each what we need, particularly in the areas of Christian liberty!
For me, I had to admit that I was in an actual dopamine addiction cycle with social media (and reaching for my phone in general) and there was no such thing as “just a little” or moderation and I needed it completely gone! I also realize Substack could be called social media, YouTube, and X,and yet these things I’m more able to just step away from and use differently (or not at all!) I did delete YouTube from my phone yesterday because I had to admit was scrolling the short videos there kind of like a replacement for all the other scrolling. 🫣😅 still love and have YouTube, but the app was taking too much of my attention with those pesky short videos that turn on as soon as the app is opened.
I’m proud of you to recognize what you needed to do and to do the hard thing of following through. It’s a big deal to step away from something that feels this all-encompassing. I’m just here to say that I’ve been off IG for the last three years, and while at first I was sad, today I don’t even think about it at all. (In fact, when someone has sent me something there and I look at it again, I’m rather repulsed.) Bravo to you, my friend! 👏🏻 Oh, and welcome to your 40s; they’re kind of the best🥳

Renewing my mind, one choice at a time!

Thank you, Sarah! I definitely had your example in mind as encouragement that I could keep writing and creating WITHOUT the “necessary” platform.
